Satsi has been creating visual art since the age of six. After moving to the Bay Area in 1995, he fell in love with dance music. Becoming a VJ was something that happened by accident after falling in with the folks at Dimension 7, San Francisco’s pioneering VJ collective. It was as a VJ he first made a name for himself, performing at a multitude of venues ranging from the extreme conditions of Burning Man to the pumping sounds of the SF Underground, as well as many clubs and concert halls across the Bay Area and beyond.
As a VJ, he has performed with many local and international artists at some of San Francisco's premiere dance events. Some of the artists he's worked with include Bassnectar, Jane's Addiction, Freq Nasty, Doc Martin, Lee Coombs, Stanton Warriors, and many, many more. As a VJ, he has held down many residencies with the likes of the Wicked, Psychofunkodiscodelic, and Slide. He currently holds residencies with Symbiosis, Raindance, Get Freaky!, and Stimulus.
SatsiSonik's big vision in the dance community is something he calls audio/visual synchology, ie, DJing and VJing simultaneously. Think of synchology as a synesthesia between light and sound. By combining both of his crafts, SatsiSonik is looking forward to taking dance floors to the next level. SatsiSonik is currently working on his second revision of synchology, so stay tuned!
